Principal’s Message:

I welcome everyone to De Anza’s 9^th Grade Academy.  This year will be a time for growth physically, emotionally and academically. We encourage all our students to do their best in public education.  Your public education is probably the last free schooling you will receive in your life.  The Calexico Unified School District and the staff of De Anza are committed to providing your child with a constructive education and safe environment.

As with anything we set out to do in life, commitment, sacrifice and dedication will be critical in the success of each individual student.  In addition, a commitment by the student’s parent/guardian to encourage their child to excel and reinforce the importance and value of an education is by far one of the most important factors, if not the most important, in the overall motivation and success of a student.

We ask all parents to please monitor your child’s grades, attendance, and behavior while they attend De Anza.  Be courageous in your parenting at this difficult time and in the long run your child will appreciate you for your involvement.

The high school experience is greater than the academic aspect.  It is developing good habits, such as regular attendance; being punctual to commitments; using time efficiently and productively; being a problem solver and a decision maker; following rules and being a team player.

I encourage all parents/guardians to participate with your child in all academic and extra-curricular activities De Anza has to offer.  Let’s wish each other the best school year ever for our students!
