Good evening,

It has come to our attention that a person or persons have been soliciting monetary donations within our community to be able to provide funeral services to a family member (whom this person/people claim was a student in our school district.  The person(s) even claim to have the school district’s support in their fundraising efforts.

Unfortunately, at this time our school district has not been able to verify the validity of the information this person(s) have been sharing with Calexico’s residents.  We have not been able to verify whether the alleged deceased was a student, nor have we been able to confirm that there is even a deceased person.  As such, we ask that you are cautious in opening your home’s doors to anyone asking for these types of donations, especially if you are not acquainted with them.  Should this happen, it is recommended that you contact the Calexico Police Department immediately to file a complaint at (760) 768-2140.
